Besides the sentimental value you place on your home and its contents, your house is probably the biggest and most valuable asset you own, so it is important that you protect it accordingly.

Unfortunately, damage and vandalism are possible, and can be extremely costly. To ensure you don’t end up out of pocket, you should take out home insurance. There are two main options when deciding on your policy - buildings insurance and home contents insurance. The section covers the following areas:
