1. What are the benefits of using this service?
There are many different solicitor firms of different sizes and with different skills. Choosing the right one for your needs is not simple.
Our service provides you with direct access to a local UK Legal Alliance Network member firm of solicitors who has been carefully selected to ensure they provide a range of good quality services to both individuals and businesses.
Each firm will:
Adhere to a
Service Charter
in delivering the work for you
Provide a fixed price quote for all non-contentious legal work
Work on a no win no fee basis for certain types of legal service such as personal injury
2. How do I get in contact with a local solicitor?
You can call us on the number at the top of this page and speak to one of our advisors or alternatively submit your details through our secure website.
Either way, we will then pass your details on to our member firm of solicitors in your locality that is best placed to meet your needs. Someone from the firm will then get in contact with you at your preferred time of contact to provide you with the assistance you need.
Remember, you won’t pay a penny for this service or until you choose to instruct your solicitor having received your quote or estimate for the assistance you require.
3. Can I choose a firm near where I live or where I work?
Yes, as part of your registration process you can choose whether you would prefer a firm near to where you live or where you work depending on which is more convenient for you.
4. What if the firm allocated to me is not particularly local?
Our member firms operate from over 150 locations throughout the UK so, for more than 75% of the population, we can provide a local service.
That said for some types of work which are a little more specialist, the firm allocated may not be particularly local but will specialise in that particular area of law and would normally be within your region. For very specialist types of work such as military personal injury claims or dental negligence, there may only be a few firms in the country that specialise in this type of work so you may be allocated a firm which operates nationally.
5. What types of legal service do you cover?
Our member firms are able to provide virtually any legal service you may need. The only matters we exclude are the majority of criminal matters where you can find a suitable specialist criminal firm through the criminal defence legal service
www.legalservices.gov.uk
6. Why is this service different to other internet services that find me a solicitor, browsing the web or using the yellow pages?
Picking a firm out of yellow pages or the web gives you little detail about the appropriateness of that firm to deliver the services you want. Also, most of the internet services currently available only offer a matching service i.e. they will find you a solicitor from within their “panel” to undertake the work for you.
Our service differs substantially as our member firms actually offer things that we know you want:
Fixed prices where possible, not pay by the hour
Local access to a quality medium sized firm (not too big, not too small) who has the broad range of skills, experience and expertise to deliver a quality service
A
Service Charter
that sets out how your UK Legal Alliance Network solicitor will work with you and what you can expect from them
Direct and instant matching to your local firm
In addition we carry out a Quality and Compliance Review on each of our member firms each year to ensure they are adhering to the quality standards we set and providing the kind of service we would expect if we were buying from them.
7. How much does it cost?
This service is free to you. Our member firms will give you a fixed price quote (or for contentious/dispute work an estimate) of how much it will cost you. Each of our member firms is independent from us and sets its own prices and will advise you of the best way to fund your case.
8. Do you cover Northern Ireland?
Not at present although feel free to contact our Customer Service team on 0845 002 0795 as we may be able to assist.
9. What service level can I expect?
Please see our
Service Charter
10. What types of firms are members of UK Legal Alliance Network?
Our average member firm has 11 partners (generally meaning owners) giving a broad base of experience and expertise across a broad range of legal services to consumers and small businesses in the areas around their offices.
11. What is UK Legal Alliance Network?
UK Legal Alliance Network is a national network of medium sized law firms who have come together to provide access to consumers and businesses to quality legal services locally throughout England and Wales.
12. How is UK Legal Alliance Network regulated?
We are regulated by the Ministry of Justice in respect of regulated claims management activities; their registration is recorded on the website
http://www.claimsregulation.gov.uk
with the registration numbers of CRM16406 and CRM14556 respectively.
UK Legal Alliance and UKLA Direct and all member firms comply with the Solicitors Code of Conduct as published and amended by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and any solicitor to whom we refer you to is an independent professional, from whom you will receive impartial and confidential advice.
13. What fees do the solicitor members pay?
In the event that you instruct a solicitor following introduction through this service, the solicitor may pay a fee, dependant on the type of work, to UKLA Direct for marketing and administration services. This fee may either be a fixed amount, a percentage of up to 15% of the fees billed by the solicitor or nothing. In no circumstances will this fee be added to your quote/bill. Your solicitor will advise you of any such fee in their letter of instruction.
